A small, green, unremarkable-looking moth destined to become extinct before anyone can discover it. So convinced was the Anonymous Moth that it was a ‘significant species’ with something to offer that it would often fly around the Natural History Museum, in London, late at night hoping to be discovered.

Story Role

Green moths are often seen as symbols of change, nature, and mystery. Moths fly at night and follow light, so people sometimes think they represent hope and finding your way through darkness.

The spiral shapes on the wings are special too. Spirals appear all through nature, in shells, galaxies, waves, and even tiny plants. They can represent time, growth, and the idea that life keeps going in circles and patterns.

Although the Anonymous Moth is the last of its kind and bound for Infinity, it still has a dream that it is a ‘significant species’ and will, one day, do something remarkable.
