Lost on Infinity (Single)
Play

The Moa was a large flightless bird that lived in and around New Zealand. On Infinity, Patrick’s job is to meet and greet new arrivals and, as a result, he is the first creature most animals meet when they land on the Island. He has a kindly nature and doesn’t like breaking bad news, which is a pity considering his job. Having welcomed so many creatures to Infinity and travelled widely on the Island, Patrick has learnt a great deal about Infinity but, as he really isn’t all that bright, he’s not really sure what it all means. He just recites his speeches and does his job as best he can.

Story Role

Patrick is a gentle giant moa who welcomes new arrivals to Infinity. Tall, fluffy and kind-hearted, Patrick often acts before he thinks and sometimes misunderstands situations, but his warmth makes him impossible not to like. He explains the strange rules of Infinity island to Moog and introduces him to creatures that vanished from Earth long ago.

He wants everyone to feel safe and included, especially newly extinct creatures who are frightened and confused.

Despite his huge size, Patrick is surprisingly nervous, especially when it comes to flying on the back of Herc.

Cause of Extinction

⚠️
Extinction Status Extinct: The moa went extinct in New Zealand approximately 600 years ago, around 1440–1445 CE.
Moas were just too friendly and made friends with the all the wrong people, who then ate them.

The moa became extinct in New Zealand shortly after humans arrived. Polynesian settlers hunted moa for food and used fire to clear forests where the birds lived.

Because moa reproduced slowly and had no experience of human hunters, their populations collapsed rapidly. Within roughly one hundred years, all moa species had disappeared.
